Girona's restaurants guide

Girona's restaurants guide

Today, from Hotel Acapulco we want to complete your information about Girona giving you our recommendations about restaurants in this city.

Girona is from weeks ago inside all world food cronichles . The restaurant el Celler de Can Roca, regented by Roca’s sons, has been awarded as best restaurant in the world. Personally I cannot add anything else to thousand articles already written about this restaurant. All the praises are worth to. It has 3 stars Michelin so if you want to experiment something extraordinary, if you have a lot of euros in your pocket and enough patience waiting to get your table booked (waiting time is around 4 months), then this is your restaurant.

But el Celler de Can Roca is not the only restaurant in the city, neither the only one who Michelin has given a star. There is restaurant Massana, who has one star. It’s cooking is traditional, using fresh products and without complications. The result cannot be better! If you want to enjoy of a good gastronomy paying less in your bill, the same chef has another restaurant, more “casual” called NU, in a friendly place just in the centre of old town.

You may find Mimolet restaurant also interesting, also in the old town, in Pou Rodó zone (being before the xinese neighbourhood, now the most fashion zone in the city). In this restaurant you’ll find season food well cooked. More or less the same concept is Cal Ros, although a little more traditional. More modern and presenting a quality menu experimenting with asiatic food is Indigo restaurant, in Hotel Carlemany. The place is fun and during the night, the lights are soft and you can enjoy of one of the best gintonics in Girona.

But if what you want is a taste of “tapas” and wines, you have also options. Of course, Girona has no Laurel street in Logroño neither old town in Donosti, but there are some restaurants worth to visit.

Let’s start with Plaça del vi 7, for wine lovers, a warm restaurant, some kind of an updated french bistrot. It also has a big table to share with unknown (or not) a concept I love. The menu depend on what’s in daily  market.

But if you want to visit different restaurants during the night, like “tapas tour” take note of the next restaurants: Tasca Galega Esconxuro, Bubbles Gastrobar, Zampanzar and Divertimento.

And last, if you, appart from eating well, you want to be charmed by the place, you cannot lose the Jardins de la Mercèla Penyora or el Bistrot.

A curiosity, recommended for those who come to city and then leave to north, going to Figueres or France, in l’Espai de Gastronomia del Centre de Visitants del Gironès, placed just at the end of the city. They cook with proximity products km0 and you have the choice to taste daily tasting menu for 12€ or 15€ at weekends.

As you can see, Girona has everything for all tastes. From Hotel Acapulco we recommend you to go there and taste some of these restaurants. You'll love them.

Bon appetit!
