Banyoles and Besalu

Banyoles and Besalu

From Hotel Acapulco Lloret today we suggest a tour to visit two of the most iconic towns in CataloniaBanyoles and Besalu.

From Lloret de Mar it takes one hour to reach the town of Banyoles well known for its lake, the largest in Catalonia and its main tourist attraction.

Banyoles Lake

 Info

Considered unique for its geological, ecological, landscape and culture. During the Olympic Games of Barcelona 92 Lake Banyoles hosted the rowing competition.

Walking its perimeter by bike (there is a rail ability to do it) is a highly recommended way to discover the lake.

We can also take boat trips or enjoy a ride on the train to the south of the lake to reach the church of Santa Maria Porqueres.

Besalú

Just thirteen kilometers from the town of Banyoles we get Besalu.

The dramatic image of its Roman bridge over the Fluvia river welcomes us to the village, the one with the best preserved medieval town in Catalonia. We highlight the monastery of St.

 Info

Peter church and the Jewish Quarter, the remains of a medieval synagogue and Miqvé, the only jewish bathrooms found in Spain so far.

Info

The narrow streets of Besalu invited to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

As a curious visit we recommend Micromundo: Museum of Miniatures and Microminiatures de Besalú
