Today from Hotel Acapulco we want to tell you about an excursion to one of the most emblematic towns in Catalunya, Rupit, a visit you won't forget, because of magic of the streets, the landscape sorrounding and the catalan tradition following the trip.

Rupit is a small town one hour and forty-five minutes far from Lloret. To get there you have to take your car or book and excursion by bus (sit on the right part of the bus or car, where the landscape is more beautiful during the trip).

The town is placed in the middle of Collsacabra mountains, between the cliffs of Aiats and Garrotxa, 845 meters tall. Rupit still has the medieval beauty that makes it famous: old houses of XVI-XVII, the peculiar and famous suspension bridge of baroque church of Sant Miquel.

As you arrive to Rupit, the first to take your attention is a wall emerging from a high mountain, dominating the town. This rock is the origen of the town, because in latin, "Rupes" is rock, there where the castle was placed.

Here you have a list of interesting places you can visit:

- The suspending bridge, built in 1945. It's worth to cross the river by this bridge. The kids will love it!

- Walk through Fossar street, a steep and terraced street where you can enjoy of all the architecture beauty of Rupit.

- The church of Sant Miquel, baroque building with neoclassical elements following a latin cross. The Major altarpiece is baroque and dedicated to Sant Esteve.

- Cal Ferrer is an old ironworks in Rupit. The singularity of its door has become to be reproduced in Poble Espanyol of Barcelona.

- Of course, you cannot lose the castle of Rupit, placed over a high rock in the middle of the town.

- If you want to go for a walk, you can make a two hours route to Sallent waterfall.

- And of course, don't go without tasting in some of the restaurants in Rupit the gastronomy of La Garrotxa, absolutely delicious!
